Another proud achievement was students of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). Recently, the UMM Valhalla E-Sport team won second place in the Mobile Legend Zodiac E-Sports Competition Season XXII Malang Region. This competition was held on Friday (24/07) at Jambuluwuk Hotel and Resort Batu. The Valhalla team won in the Upper Bracket position after defeating 14 other teams in the competition organized by Zodiac E-Sports.

The people behind this victory were Giant Andili Pratama, Pramas Setya Wahyu, Fikri Nur Haikal and Denny Prassetiawan. Giant, as he is familiarly known, told that when he was in junior high school (SMP), to play online games, he had to go to an internet cafe (WARNET) and pick up a night package. However, with the development of technology, Giant began to look for alternative games through smartphones, namely Mobile Legend.

"We can see today's games are not just entertainment but can also be a career place with the entry of Indonesian E-Sports to the Sea Game and National Sports Week (PON). That's what spurred me to participate in this season's competition. Even though I only came out as a Runner Up, I am proud to be able to start the first step for the next competitions," said the student majoring in Informatics.

In this race, Giant said that his team was exceptionally well prepared. In addition to regular practice, they also prepare mentally and team cohesively. From the initial round to the semi-final stage, his team won consecutive wins for several games, or what is commonly referred to as Win Streak. However, during the semi-finals, his team's position had decreased.

"We were quite overwhelmed when we met the team from Sidoarjo. A lack of hero power also constrained us. This is due to a communication error. Fortunately, we were able to handle this well," said the 2019 UMM student.

This student from Jambi hopes that the campus can fully support UMM's E-Sport activities in the future. Giant also hopes that UMM students can have a career in the world of E-sports. "I hope friends with talent who like online games stay focused on practicing. Maybe from the beginning, an amateur player can rise to become a pro player one day," said Giant ending. (apg/zak/shi)
