To strengthen the relationship, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) invited its international students to discuss and have lunch together at Rayz hotel UMM on Tuesday (19/7). In the agenda d, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., invites them not only to study well but also to participate in community activities in their respective places of residence. Even with knowledge related to Indonesian culture, especially Malang.

"Later, the UMM International Relations Office (IRO) can invite you to do a kind of cultural study tour. You can visit cultural objects such as dance studios, Malangan masks, or others. So you don't only focus on academic studies, but also know the abundant Indonesian culture," he said.

Fauzan also explained it related to the UMM PASTI program, which the White Campus was continuously promoting. He is sure that these international students can study well and graduate on time, even by becoming independent graduates. He hoped that the learning process at UMM could bring international students to a better future. It is also a way to develop broader international cooperation, mainly through international students and alumni who have worked in various countries.

On the same occasion, the Head of UMM IRO, Dr. Latipun, M.Kes. reported that there were more than 120 international students who were pursuing undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies at UMM. 30 of them are currently in Indonesia, while the rest are still studying online. They come from 30 countries such as Japan, South Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, and others.

Latipun encourages international students to complete their studies on time. Starting with the Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program, then continuing with the level of education taken. "For undergraduates, they have to go through one year of BIPA and then four years of the study process. Meanwhile, for your master's education, you must also participate in BIPA, followed by a two-year study period. Even with a doctoral who joins BIPA for one year and can complete his study for 3.5 years, "said Latipun.

Some of his friends even suggested he study at UMM because of its international reputation. One of them was the achievement of the World's Best Islamic University, which was achieved by the White Campus some time ago.

"This is also a good opportunity for me to learn many things about Indonesia. Especially the abundant culture. Of course, I will not pass up this opportunity in vain. I will often visit some of the interesting objects that are here. Even with other interesting places in Indonesia," he said. (apg/wil)
