The financial profession in banking is still wide open, and there are many opportunities. This was conveyed by Neny Desi Ariani, a banking practitioner, as well as a jury at the 2022 Public Speaking and Service Excellent Competition in mid-July. The event was initiated by the Diploma 3 (D3) Department of Banking Finance, Vocational Directorate, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM).
Through this competition, UMM White Campus wants to hone students' skills. Especially in the field of expertise in the banking finance profession. There are seven categories of banking expertise that are contested. Start from speech, master of ceremony, debate, and marketing. The last two categories are grooming and customer service.
Neny, as she is known, explained that until now, customer complaints about banking financial services are very high. Therefore, human resources with good banking finance professional skills are needed. So that existing complaints can go down and expedite the current process.
"In the expertise of the banking finance profession, several abilities are needed in addition to the education level factor. Some of these skills include agility, accuracy, speed, and accuracy. These four things become very useful supporting skills. Especially when dealing with customers," she continued.
Meanwhile, the Head of the UMM Financial Laboratory, Eris Tri Kurniawati, SE., MM.Ak., explained that hundreds of participants from UMM students attended this event. After finding a winner in each category, they will send to compete in competitions at a higher level, either regional or national.
"Although this event has not been running for two years due to the pandemic, the enthusiasm of students is very high. They are even waiting for the Public Speaking and Service Excellent Competition to be held again," she said.
Furthermore, Eris, as she is called, said that they could build expertise in the banking finance profession if every student is allowed to study and practice. One way is to participate in competitions and practicals in class.
"The participation of students will make it easier to get jobs and professions in the world of banking finance. Therefore, I hope that students will gain better knowledge and experience after participating in this Public Speaking and Service Excellent Competition," she concluded. (apg/Will)
