The discussion of ijtihad is often attractive and endless, as well as with PSIF UMM, who wanted to discuss it in depth through the program of reviewing the book Ijtihad Contemporary Muhammadiyah Dar Al-Ahd Wa al-Syahadah: The Elaboration of Syiar and Pancasila. This event was held by the Center for Islamic Studies and Philosophy (PSIF), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), on Wednesday (30/12), through the PSIF Official Youtube channel.
The book review presented two main speakers. First, Hasnan Bachtiar. MIMWAdv is the author of the book. Besides that, Gonda Yumitro, MA, who would analyze the book in more detail, and Dr.Faridi, M.Si, as the head of PSIF UMM were also present.
In his speech, Dr.Faridi, M.Si said that Muhammadiyah must play an active role in the structural shift of society. Especially at the global level. "Muhammadiyah's task in the future is to provide awareness to the community. The main thing is about shifting cultural values in the global community and things that elevate human values. " Faridi said further.

Meanwhile, in his presentation, Hasnan explained why he was so interested in the idea of Ijtihad. He also explained that the concept of Ijtihad can be applied in two ways. First, intertextuality, namely the relationship between texts and one another. Second is intertextuality, which means considering the history of the formation of the text and the history of the present.
"Pancasila contains matters related to deliberation and popular democracy. Meanwhile, we know that Islam also talks a lot about the concept of deliberation. So Islam contains ideal concepts as contained in Pancasila. Said that the two of them are related to each other. " explained the UMM Islamic Faculty (FAI) lecturer.

On the other hand, Gonda appreciated the presence of this book. He explained that most people only talk about Islam, the state, or Pancasila without linking them to one another. Distinct from Hasnan Bachtar's book, which brought reforms to the nation and state. Through the concept of Islam and Pancasila.
"Through the concept of Ijtihad, I see that this book offers many solutions to various problems currently occurring in Indonesia. Especially the problem of radicalism, ”said Gonda at the end of the session. (apg / syi / wil)
