Vocational UMM-Malang Regency Government Opens Job Opportunities for Vocational High School Graduates to Japan

University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continually strives to expand and spread its benefits. UMM and the Malang Regency Government are committed to supporting Vocational High School (SMK) graduates to get job opportunities domestically and abroad. Mainly the job opportunities that are open in Japan. Present at the meeting held on Monday (14/3) was Deputy Regent of Malang Didik Gatot Subroto, S.H., M.H., and Vice-Rector IV UMM Dr. Sidik Sunaryo, SH. M.Si. M. Hum. Likewise, the Director of UMM Vocational Education, Dr. Tulus Winarsunu, M.Sc., and the Head of the Regional Education Office of Malang Regency, Ani Saulina.

Tulus explained that his party was very open to working together in opening the broadest possible job opportunities for SMK graduates. Moreover, Vocational UMM also has foreign cooperation with some countries. That way, it can facilitate graduates who have the potential to get to the best places.

Furthermore, Tulus also mentioned several fields of work and careers that could allow him to depart. These include food and beverage production, kaigo, agriculture, building cleaning, and fisheries and aquaculture. "We certainly hope that this meeting can produce tremendous benefits. Able to encourage SMK graduates to dream big and get decent jobs," he said.

In this program, SMK graduates who will have a career in Japan are required to meet general requirements. They will also be given training for one year in the UMM Vocational Dormitory, including Japanese language education and work competencies. Currently, there are dozens of participants who have joined the program. Several SMK students from Malang and outside Malang have joined, such as SMK Muhammadiyah 7 Gondanglegi, Akper Krida Husada Kudus, SMA PGRI 2 Jombang, and others.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent Didik hopes that the Vocational High Schools currently sitting in class XII can be prepared to face employment opportunities. Even with the chance to depart for a career in Sakura Country. This collaboration is also expected to increase the number of workers and reduce unemployment.

"This is a special program because we believe that the SMK students are ready with the various skills and needs in the industry. Then they were connected and facilitated well by UMM to work and have a career abroad. Moreover, the White Campus already has unquestionable credibility because various international collaborations have been carried out with strategic parties," he said.

Didik added that the Malang Regency Government has an essential role in providing direction to SMK students to take advantage of all opportunities. In this way, the unemployment rate can be reduced as well. The Regency Government and UMM meetings are believed to provide benefits and good results.

"We will certainly encourage and facilitate this program. Previously, Vocational UMM had also been running this program for a long time by sending university alumni. Today especially for the Vocational High School level, we formally started by bringing together the Branch of the East Java Province Vocational Education Office with UMM. Later there will also be the involvement of the Malang Regency Manpower Office to help monitor its sustainability," he said. (cdr/*/wil)
