University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) continues to encourage its students to excel even during a pandemic. One of the efforts is to hold a student day event last Sunday (14/3). In the schedule, most of the participants participate online at their respective residences. Others were also shown offline at the UMM Dome under strict health protocols. This time, UMM presented Dr. Ary Ginanjar Agustian as CEO of the ESQ Leadership Center. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) was also present.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. As the UMM Rector explained, "Student Day" is a routine procedure that has been implemented by UMM for a long time. One of the foundations for implementing this schedule is that every student has the potential,  intellectual potential, interests, and talents. Fauzan said: "For UMM, the potential for heterogeneous and complex students must be developed properly to be able to appear in the regional, national and even international arena."

He also explained that even in a pandemic, the life we have must be meaningful. Therefore, UMM invited Ary Ginanjar to provide motivation which was expected to advance new students. Fauzan hopes that students will immediately understand the current situation and then do something that has strategic meaning in the future.

On the same occasion, Ary Ginanjar said that humanity especially, new students, is now facing the Volatility, Complexity, Uncertainty, and Ambiguity (VUCA) era. Situations that change very quickly and tend to be unpredictable. It is these changes that must be caught immediately. So, that they can adapt shortly.

Answering the VUCA era problem, Ary provides a solution called super agility. There are five super agility new students must have. The first change agility is they must be able to adapt to any changes. There is also what is called mental agility. "Students are required to be able to survive in any condition, even in tough situations," he said.

Ary then explained the third agility, namely people agility, which encourages them to cooperate with anyone. Regardless of differences in race, culture, religion, language, and point of view. It is not enough to stop there. Ary also encourages students to have learned and result in agility. Able to understand new things quickly and precisely and be able to excel in any situation.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for PMK, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P. congratulated UMM on its achievement to be the best Islamic university in the world, based on Unibank. Even so, he advised that UMM should continue to improve, develop and innovate even though it has been determined as the best Islamic campus.

In his speech, Muhadjir also asked UMM students to grow 4C. The first C is critical thinking, then creativity, communication skills, and confidence. "Even though there are only four things, it might be difficult. If you can fulfill all four of them, God willing will be with you in all your endeavors. Besides that, it is also able to help you to pioneer your success at UMM, "he concluded. (wil)
