The festivity of Ramadan is increasingly felt at Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) thanks to an event titled 'Moderate Islam Spirit for the Progressive Future of Islam.' The event held on March 20, 2024, was attended directly by one of the chairmen of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership, Dr. H. Agung Danarto, M.Ag. He emphasized that Muhammadiyah has a flexible character.
Muhammadiyah always tries to assist society in various aspects of life. Likewise, its goal is to realize a just, prosperous society, blessed by Allah, and the formation of true Islam. "The multitude of dreams held by Muhammadiyah shapes a flexible character. Muhammadiyah moves by devising strategies that suit the needs of society, preparing meticulously, and yielding tangible results until now," he said.

Agung also explained the concept of welfare in Muhammadiyah, which is how society can prosper economically and socially. Therefore, Muhammadiyah provides various access points, such as education, job opportunities, healthcare, and human rights.
"Muhammadiyah has opened various access points to create prosperous communities. Interestingly, I can see all of this at UMM. The education is running smoothly, there are hospitals, numerous businesses being run, and more," he explained.
He also emphasized that Muhammadiyah will continue to open job opportunities to create economic transformation. Various micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as business units must constantly improve their quality. This way, the economic turnover of society, especially Muhammadiyah, can continue to thrive.
Meanwhile, UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, SE., M.Si, revealed that the festivity of Ramadan is a culture carried out routinely every year by the White Campus. This study is made to provide a good ideology for society, especially the UMM community. So that they acquire knowledge that can be implemented to enhance the quality of daily life.

"UMM always aims to contribute and be a pioneer in the Muhammadiyah organization, especially in realizing the dream of birthing true Islam, based on the development of the times," he concluded. (ri/wil/fajr)
