14th Anniversary, PGSD UMM Launches 14 Books by Students and Lecturers

Established in 2007, the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) again held its 14th-anniversary agenda. Mixed with the concept of a talk show, this schedule was held on Saturday (24/7) through Zoom and Youtube channels. Not only that. But, there was also the launching of 14 books that were collaborated by students and lecturers in the related study programs.

The long series of PGSD Milad agendas began with the writing of books by all active students of PGSD class 2018, 2019, and 2020. It ended with the peak schedule, namely the launching of books and talk shows with the theme "Gold Generation of Future Leaders' Productivity". Uniquely, the event also opened another interesting event, namely Paksi Fest 2021.

Start from the talk show, Belinda Dewi Regina, S.Pd, M.Pd. revealed that this event was a reminder for PGSD to continue to innovate to be able to produce innovative educators. He also hopes that this study program can be more superior and at the forefront in providing benefits. "Of course we want to give the best so that the students can later receive good teaching," said Belinda in her speech.

On the same occasion, Arina Restian, S.Pd, M.Pd as the Head of the UMM PGSD study program. Said that this anniversary started from the spirit of an independent campus. It is proven by the birth of 14 books with ISBN from the existing students and teaching staff. “To commemorate the 14th anniversary, we also deliberately launched 14 books. The content focuses on learning themes," added Arina explains.

Some of the titles of books that have been compiled include Towards Professional Educators in the Learning Process in Elementary Schools, Character Educators Towards the Primary Education Civics Study, The Importance of Elementary Education Psychology, and Multitasking Educators in Elementary Mathematics. Some books discuss 21st-century education, having communication, collaboration, critical and creative skills. Even. with literature that contains related arts and culture as well as international creative and innovative learning.

Then, the schedule was continued with a talk show inviting Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Si as Vice-Chancellor I of UMM moderated by Dr. Siti Fatimah Soenaryo, M.Pd. On that occasion, he explained the policy of an independent campus and free learning at the university. Syamsul said that students now have the freedom to determine their education. They can take courses in other majors and even universities. Students can also take certified internships to support their future. "Hopefully, student creativity and innovation can be accommodated through the independent learning policy that has been implemented," said Syamsul at the end of the presentation. (*/wil)
