The 100th graduation ceremony of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was held again on Friday (2/7). Located at UMM Dome, the event presented Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy as the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) and the Head of LLDIKTi Region VII East Java, Prof. Dr. Ir. Soeprapto, DEA. The title was the closing of the 100th UMM graduation series.

Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. The Chancellor of UMM explained that the graduates already have institutional provisions because they have been born by UMM, a campus that has received many international recognitions. One of them was obtained from UniRank, a survey agency located in Australia. UMM was successfully crowned as the best Islamic university in the world. "Lastly, the white campus also successfully won the title of three-star campus from the QS Stars rating agency last week," explained Fauzan.

Fauzan explained, two aspects get a perfect score of five stars. One of them is Employability, an aspect that has strategic opportunities for graduates. This proves that the competencies and abilities of graduates can be used as capital to compete in the world of work. Not only at the national level but also internationally. “This means that the capital for institutional success has been provided by the campus. It's just a matter of how you take advantage of the opportunities that exist. I'm sure you have a positive energy that can benefit the wider community. Continue to be optimistic in facing the next phase of life," he said.

Meanwhile, Muhadjir Effendy said that the graduates who will leave campus and take part in the community are a phenomenon that must happen. According to him, UMM has provided sufficient provisions for them to navigate and face the real world. “One of them is a learning experience. How is the dedication of the teaching staff in educating the graduates? Likewise, learning facilities have a big role in the formation of academic and intellectual aspects,” explained Muhadjir.

The second thing that UMM provides is from the aspect of character building. How the graduates are formed so that they can have a way of thinking, attitude, and action based on UMM standards. According to Muhadjir, this aspect makes the absorption of alumni in the world of work quite high. "Not only to get a job, but UMM also provides supplies for alumni to be able to open job opportunities for the wider community," he continued.

He also did not forget to give a message to the graduates to fill their nights to get closer to God. In addition, it also encourages them to walk on the earth humbly and not to be arrogant and arrogant. “If we are harassed, don't retaliate in the same way. But pray for them to become a better person. Don't forget to donate and get closer to Allah. Because if we are close to Allah, He will also be close to us,” concluded Muhadjir.

On the same occasion, the Head of LLDIKTi Region VII East Java, Prof. Dr. Ir. Soeprapto, DEA. Mention that there are two requirements for a good college. The first thing is whether or not the formal requirements are met. Some of them include infrastructure, accreditation, and even the lecturers. "I think UMM has exceeded all of that. The number of doctors is abundant, along with professors. There are also many A and B accreditations for study programs," he explained.

Then there is a substantial requirement, namely how UMM carries out its learning. If it is seen from the achievements of UMM which won various international recognitions, then UMM certainly has passed these standards.

Soeprapto, his nickname also advised the graduates to continue to think critically. Couple with creative abilities in dealing with an increasingly dynamic world. Likewise, with the communication aspect. According to him, it is not enough for graduates to only have Indonesian language skills. There must be other international language skills.

In addition, graduates also have to collaborate with various parties. Not only limited to friends, but also those who are part of the Indonesian nation, even other nations that can be invited to collaborate. “Finally, I also advise continuing to improve morale. However, I think that UMM is very sufficient in equipping graduates in these various aspects. So when all these aspects are own, the path to success will be easy to find,” he concluded at the end of his speech. (wil)
