Research About the Benefits of Yoga for Menopause

Research about menopausal symptoms for women, Henny Dwi Susanti, M.Kep., Sp.Kep.Mat., one of the Lecturers of the Faculty of Health (Fikes) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), earned a doctorate at Taipei Medical University, Taiwan.


The dissertation entitled "Mediating Effects of Psychological Symptoms and Effects of Yoga on Menopausal Symptoms and Sleep Quality Across Menopause Status in Indonesian Women" discusses how yoga affects menopause symptoms. Moreover, it also has an effect on sleep quality on the menopausal status of Indonesian women.


"Every yoga movement can improve blood circulation and balance hormones. This exercise can have a good effect, namely reducing depression and reducing sleep disturbances that often occur," she said.


In the interview, she explained that yoga is a sport that is widely recommended during the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, he said that the symptoms of menopause could reduce the condition of the body. Not only from a physical aspect but also spiritually.


Finally, she hopes to share the knowledge she has gained while in Taiwan. Henny also wants to have later the opportunity to provide yoga exercises online during this pandemic. "So I can help relieve the symptoms that menopausal women usually experience," she concluded. (haq/wil)
