After ten years of maintaining the A accreditation, the Sociology Study Program (Prodi) of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) managed to get the Akreditasi Unggul. This program was conducted by The National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) at the end of last August.

Rachmad Kristiono Dwi Susilo, S.Sos, MA., Ph.D.; as the Head of the Sociology Study Program, this accreditation was achieved after completing the four categories of assessment from BAN-PT. First, namely, the number of permanent lecturers owned. According to Rachmad, the study program has exceeded the minimum required standard. Then there is the curriculum, polls from students and alumni. The last assessment is from the aspect of quality assurance.

Furthermore, because this accreditation is only valid for one year, Rachmad said the Sociology Study Program would prepare for the following accreditation assessment. He said that the challenges ahead would be more difficult.

Finally, Rachmad said he would again fix the study program’s accreditation team and improve the curriculum for the following assessment. In addition, preparations will be made earlier in January next year. “Obtaining this excellent accreditation is indeed very proud, but we must not be careless. In the future, the sociology study program will work hard in improving its academic quality,” he concluded. (shi/wil)
