Cool! UMM Lecturer Initiates Aloevera Village Malang

Who doesn't know Kampung Warna-Warni Jodipan (KWJ) in Jodipan Village, Malang City? This viral thematic village, initiated by students of the Public Relations practicum of the Communication Studies Department University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Followed by the Green Village "Tempenosaurus" in Batu City, which also added to the list of UMM's success in assisting an area in developing its potential based on local potential.

The latest Thematic Village destination is Kampung Aloe vera in Ciptomulyo Village, Sukun District, Malang City. Unlike the previous villages, Kampung Aloe vera carries the potential in Ciptomulyo Village, Malang City, namely aloe vera or aloe vera. Many processed food products or special drinks will be made from aloe vera. In addition, aloe vera-themed tourist icons will be added.

Pertamina Fuel Terminal Malang initiated this program through a CSR program in collaboration with UMM Communication Science lecturers Novin Farid Styo Wibowo, M.Si, and Rahadi, M.Si, as program assistants. "Previously, in 2018, we had conducted social mapping research on the socio-economy of the community in Ciptomulyo. From the results of the research, we then looked at the potential. Well, one of the potentials is aloe vera that can be developed," Novin said on Friday (5/6).

To welcome all production activities in the area, Pertamina Fuel Terminal Malang provided production equipment. This tool is an oven machine and supporting gear to increase the production of aloe vera specialty food and beverage businesses. Fuel Terminal Manager of Pertamina Malang, Ahmad Zaeni, said that this production equipment assistance is expected to support residents in the region in optimally produce food and drinks.

"Hopefully, this production equipment assistance can be used as a trigger that encourages the growth of productive community groups and can face uncertain situations during and after Covid-19 independently," explained Ahmad Zaeni. The provision of production equipment assistance, carried out on Thursday (4/6) yesterday, also took place production training, product rebranding, and online marketing to residents in the region to improve product quality and quantity.
