Engineering majors are often seen as difficult majors to graduate on time. Therefore, the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Chatting Webinar on Thursday (4/8). This agenda presents four Mechanical Engineering students who successfully graduated on time without a thesis trial. They are Muhammad Ardiansyah, Annisa Widya N, Nadia Septria and Muchammad Ridwan.

“With the tips and advice, it is hoped that students can complete their studies on time. At the same time, it can break the myth that engineering students cannot graduate on time. Moreover, the White Campus has the UMM PASTI program which is an effort so that students can graduate on time with good independence, "said Iis.

The four 2018 Mechanical Engineering students graduated through the national and international competition certificate equivalence program. Of the four students, Nadia managed to graduate in three years and nine months and achieve cumlaude.

“In order to pass without a thesis trial, seek more information about competitions, both projects and competitions. In addition, there must be an intention to immediately complete the dependents of the course. Don't forget to also ask for prayers and support from your parents and friends, "said Nadia.

During her studies, Nadia was an active and accomplished student. She is part of a team that receives funding from Dikti. Namely in the program and the manufacture of production equipment as the implementation of project-based learning for solving MSME problems. In addition, he was also included in the Heroine Team which succeeded in becoming a finalist in the 2019 Energy Saving Car Contest organized by the State University of Malang.

On the other hand, Muhammad Ardiansyah, Annisa Widya and Muchammad Ridwan are one of the teams that passed the funding selection at the 33rd National Student Scientific Week 2020. They managed to compete with 66,000 proposals from various other universities throughout Indonesia.

Ardian as the team leader said that at that time, his team created a program entitled Smart Parking Safety System for Four-Wheel Vehicles. From the Pimnas competition, they applied for equivalence to the campus so that they could be free of thesis. "It can be said that our proposal is equivalent to a thesis because at that time it was tested directly by three professors," explained Ardian.

Most recently, Ardian and his team won third place in the 10th National Machine Design Contest (LNTRBM X) 2022 organized by the Indonesian Mechanical Engineering Cooperation Agency (BKSTM). In the competition at that time, Ardian and his team innovated a screw turbine simulation game based on renewable energy technology for children 7-18 years old, named E-Rotta. At the end of the webinar, Ardian motivates his juniors to follow the tips they have shared. Even to keep the spirit and learn to be the best.

“Luck is when opportunity meets readiness. So it must be prepared early on, so that when there is an opportunity we are ready to take advantage of it," concluded Ardian. (cdr/zak/wil)
