A heartbreaking tragedy occurred on Saturday (1/10) at the Kanjuruhan stadium. A total of more than 120 victims died because of the disaster. The victim is an Arema supporter and several police officers. In addition, hundreds of injured victims must receive treatment.

This tragedy leaves a deep sorrow, not only for the supporters of the two clubs but also for football fans worldwide. Especially the families of the victims who did not think it could happen. Until now, UMM continues to try to accompany the victims' families to calm them down. That sent several teams from the Faculty of Psychology and UMM Hospital to contribute to the community during a tragedy.

In addition, the White Campus also sent a medical team from UMM Hospital to assist in handling victims since last night (1/10). UMM Hospital has also coordinated with other health facilities and the Malang District Health Office. "We have coordinated with many parties and immediately went to help the victims in Kanjuruhan," explained the Deputy Director of UMM Hospital, dr. Thontowi Jauhari, M.Kes.

Regarding this condition, UMM Psychologist Hudaniah S.Psi. M.Si. also commented on the psychology of the family left by the victim. According to him, every family must feel the loss. However, the level will differ depending on the victim's role in his family. Some victims are the backbone, first child, only child, husband, and others. "The stronger the part of the victim in his family, the higher the loss rate. If the victim is a father who is the backbone, the loss will be excruciating for the wife and children. Even with the role of other victims, "said Hudan explained.

One way to reduce the feeling of loss is with social support. Namely how the family, neighbors, or the closest government institutions such as the Neighborhood (RT) and Hamlet (RW) accompany and win over. Then, if it has improved, the family left behind can move on and take other steps to move on with life. Relatives can also help both in terms of material and non-material.

So, seeing this, UMM swiftly dispatched a team of psychologists from the Faculty of Psychology to assist the victim's family. "We try to attend, accompany, and listen to the complaints of the bereaved families. That I think can help. We also advised the neighbors not to ask about the chronology and events. Because it will only make things worse," said Hudan. (apg/haq/wil)
