UMM Orchid CoE Assesses International Orchid Business Opportunities

Invite hundreds of business people, researchers, lecturers, and students at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) through the Anggrek Center of Excellence (CoE) to hold an International Seminar and Business Network. The activity, which the Department of Biology Education initiated, was held at the end of last September at Sengkaling Recreation Park UMM.

The chief executive of the activity, Tutut Indria Permana, M.Pd., said that this activity aims to emphasize the role of the orchid business as one of the drivers of the Indonesian and world economy. Therefore, this seminar chose the theme, The Contribution of Orchids Agribusiness to National Development. "In addition to inviting 100 businessmen, researchers, lecturers, and students, this activity also collaborates with the DPW of the Indonesian Orchid Association (PAI) in East Java," said the lecturer at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FTTE).

In the event, various orchid business conditions in multiple countries were explained. One of them is the movement of the orchid business in Singapore. In addition, there was material exposure to the conservation of wild orchids in Malaysia and increasing public awareness so that orchids do not become extinct. One of the speakers, Sales Manager of PT Ekakarya Graha Flora Ir. Joko As'ad also shared some tips for beginner orchid business people.

"The thing that beginners should pay attention to is network development and expansion. The orchid business is wide open, never lonely, classy, ​​and an interesting thing. This trend needs to be welcomed and read as a leading business opportunity by the Indonesian people, especially students," he said.

On the same occasion, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that in its journey, UMM would continue to involve itself in intellectual work. Striving to create business people in the field of orchids and producing international-scale orchid researchers. "I hope this seminar can emphasize to the general public that UMM can read market tastes and open interesting business opportunities," concluded the man born in Kediri.
