The Provincial Student Sports Week (Pomprov) is an activity that student athletes eagerly await. Therefore, the offline Pomprov event, held by the Province of East Java (Jatim) this year, was enthusiastically welcomed by various groups. The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) futsal team was no exception, which in the final round, managed to win a bronze medal last March.

One of the team members, Dandy Ananda Satria, said that his team had been preparing for each competition for approximately one year for a long time. During that time, the team members carried out the strict training that the coach had arranged. "We practice for one year with the duration of training three times a week. We are not only preparing for Pomprov, but we are also preparing this exercise for other championships such as the National Championship (Kejurnas), which will be held in Bandung in May," said the student majoring in Management.

Even though he had made thorough preparations, Dandy said many obstacles occurred during the race. Some of the things that affect the team's performance the most are injuries and yellow card accumulation. The low number of members also disrupted several essential roles.

"When we were in the last 16 and 8, we played without a pure goalkeeper. Both of our goalkeepers suffered serious injuries in the previous game. It prevented them from continuing the game. Members in other positions finally took over the role of goalkeeper," said the student from Malang.

Many people are pessimistic that UMM futsal can advance to the next round. Dandy said that the futsal team was not favored to bring home a medal from the start. The obstacles that occur are also a formidable challenge for team members. However, with passion and hard work, they could make it to the semi-finals and get a bronze medal.

"Even though we are a little shaky, we are proud because we can win a game after the match and secure a medal for our beloved campus. I certainly hope that this team can be more solid to bring home the championship title in the following competitions, "he concluded. (cdr/syi/wil)
