In order to improve the competence of new students, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Student Day activity. Held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, this event was officially opened by pressing the button and releasing the balloon by the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. The opening was also livelier because of the arrival of more than 7000 new students who enlivened it.
Moreover, at the opening this time there were TikTok gymnastics with thousands of students and also a healthy walk around the campus. Even a series of performances were also provided, such as dances from the Sanskrit student activity unit (UKM) and acoustics from Follow Bee.
In his speech, Fauzan explained that Student Day is an activity designed so that White Campus students can express themselves in various fields. In this way, brilliant potentials emerge that can be developed. Later it can also be a provision to compete, not only at the campus level but also nationally and internationally.

"This event is mandatory for UMM students, especially new students. Different from the previous year, the 2022 student day activity will be held for a full year until 2023. The hope is that it can filter out interests and talents and provide a stage for talented new talents. it is also to build a relaxed but still serious learning atmosphere,” said the Chancellor from Kediri.
Fauzan also emphasized that UMM would invite various national and international figures in the Student Day series. It aims to provide knowledge and insight for new students to be able to work and provide innovation. Even with efforts to be able to compete in the international arena.
On the other hand, the Chief Executive of Student Day Imamul Hakim, SE., M. Sh explained that there are four fields that will be held on student day. The four fields include academic, leadership, entrepreneur, and also recreational. The student day period was also extended from the original 12 weeks to 24 weeks.
"With this student day event, we try to build a climate of achievement among new students. This is in accordance with the tegline that we have made, namely strong competition for great achievements. Hopefully this activity can bring benefits to all of us," he said.
This activity was well received by students. One of them is Alnora May, a student of Communication Studies at UMM. According to her, the many Student Day activities provide special excitement. Especially during the opening which gave the opportunity to take a walk in one of UMM's business units, Sengkaling Recreation Park.
“Riding the ducks in Sengkaling is the most exciting activity. Moreover, it was time to race with friends. TikTok gymnastics is also fun and healthy. Of course, we are waiting for another series of interesting agendas from Student Day,” said Alnora. (cdr/syi/wil)
