The more here, the more young people who have qualified skills but are not resilient and give up easily. Prof. Dr. Rhenald Kasali confirmed this, P.hD., when giving motivation to 7,500 students in the Introduction to New Student Studies (Pesmaba) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) last Thursday (15/9). He also encourages young people not to become toxic individuals and be able to take advantage of the times.

Rhenald, his nickname, started by explaining the current situation in the world. The earth inhabited by humans is increasingly dense. Even in November 2022, the number of humans will increase from 7.9 billion to 8 billion. China, previously the most populous country, will be overtaken by India.

"The technology hub will also shift to India. Currently, they have their satellites to launch rockets into Mars orbit to carry out missions. Why? Because with an increasing number of people, the earth's temperature will rise and melt the snow, drowning many islands. So to accommodate the increasing number of people, countries are undertaking two major projects, namely escaping to the metaverse and escaping to Mars," he said.

According to Rhenald, capable human resources are needed to face the increasingly advanced metaverse and artificial world. Especially those who master the fields of the future. So, he appreciated the Center for Future of Work (CFW) program, which was initiated and run by UMM. "Many people think they are limited to the present, but only a few see the future. And UMM is the one who gives birth to a generation with future skills," added the professor in the field of management.

In the book 'Change,' the author encourages students not to be a toxic strawberry generation. A generation that, despite having skills but mentally fragile. He even mentioned ten toxic words that young people often use as excuses. There are words cuan, passion, insecurity, quarter life crisis, hustle culture, and toxic workplace, even with passive income, financial freedom, smart work, and privileges.

"Ten words are sometimes a problem among young people. I don't think it's time for financial freedom or passive income in my teens and twenties. Even with a passion, that often becomes a barrier. No need to be insecure because you still have a long way to go. As long as you work hard and dare to take on challenges, then I am sure you will become a successful and successful human being in the future," he said.

Present online on the same occasion, the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si to close the 2022 Pesmaba UMM. He considered that Pesmaba was a starting point for new students to join the UMM family officially. He also advised strengthening determination and intention while studying at the White Campus.

"Those two things are your initial capital to be successful in college. Then make this campus a place for you to become intellectuals. It would help if you also had great traditions like dignified people. Moderate Muslims," said Haedar.

On the other hand, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that to build good human resources (HR), UMM always invites well-known figures. On this occasion, Prof. Rhenal Kasali, Ph.D., was presented among new students with determination and enthusiasm in carrying out future thoughts. It is hoped that his arrival will benefit the White Campus students.

"The thoughts and determination brought by Rhenal Kasali are the same as the mission that UMM is developing. By building the Center for Future of Work (CFW), UMM tries to answer the problems and problems of human resources in the future. Hopefully, what we are doing can provide enthusiasm and benefits to the nation," he concluded. (apg/shi/wil)
