The tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang on October 1, 2022, has brought deep sorrow to the people of Indonesia. The 105th University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) graduation ceremony for the third period in 2022 was no exception last Tuesday (4/10). The graduates and their parents wore black ribbons as a sign of condolences for the loss of the victims. Not only that but fundraising was also held at the graduation as a form of mutual love and humanity. The graduation was also started with a moment of silence led by the Chancellor of UMM.

Present at the graduation was the President Director of PT INKA (Persero), Budi Noviantoro. He congratulated the graduates who had carried out their mandate well. For him, being a graduate who still exists in the future requires three things. The first is to start at the end and end at the beginning. "For example, when I made an electric bus. I tested it first, then drew a theory based on that experiment. If I made it from scratch, of course, it wouldn't be anything," he said.

Second, if you have made it, you will be able to repair it. He admitted that he had repeatedly reprimanded people who liked to buy but did not appreciate their products. Therefore, he urges to love domestic products, as the president has said. There is nothing wrong with buying local products for the betterment of the nation. "Third, forever innovation. If you don't have the spirit of innovation, it will be too late to move," he said.

He also hoped that UMM would be able to conduct researches that lead to environmentally friendly hydrogen technology. According to him, this hydrogen technology could be the future vehicle. "Indonesia is a repository of hydrogen materials. I entrust it to the graduates so they can think of visors. Moreover, at UMM, there is already a Center of Excellence (CoE) which can be a forum. So, maximize this forum to do useful research," he explained.

On the same occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P., the coordinating minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK). He expressed his condolences, especially to Aremania and the families who have been victims of the tragedy in Kanjuruhan.

"Let us pray that those who left us may be placed on His best side. Likewise, with those who are injured so that they can quickly improve and heal," Muhadjir hoped.

In addition, he reminded graduates to be ready to face Golden Indonesia in 2045. If they are not prepared, they will be left behind and lost to others. On the other hand, if UMM graduates are ready and at the forefront, they will be very proud of themselves, their parents, and the White Campus. "Because while on this campus, graduates have been formed to become professionals so that you can play a role at the peak of golden Indonesia," he said.

He also advised UMM graduates to change their perspective and think. One relates to a clean, green life and reducing the greenhouse effect. For him, the world is in an atmosphere of global warming, which requires concrete action to suppress it. "I want UMM alumni who graduated never to stop and keep their spirits up. Take advantage of your potential and brains to provide solutions to community problems," he said. (cdr/ros/wil)
