Another sad news came from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). One of his outstanding students, also a victim of the Kanjuruhan tragedy, breathed his last on Sunday (23/10) night. She is Farzah Dwi Kurniawan Jhovhanda, a student majoring in civil engineering at UMM.

He became the 135th victim who died in the Kanjuruhan tragedy early last October. He was treated at the Saiful Anwar Regional General Hospital (RSUD) for 23 days. It got better, but in the end, it got worse.

Farzah, originally from Malang, is a dedicated and accomplished student. It was stated by one of his friends, Fathur Rizqi. Farzah is an active friend to contribute and learns new things. His dedication to the semi-autonomous institution (LSO) Surya is evident. He is trusted to carry out tasks in the field of research and development. He even represented UMM in the Indonesian Building Competition (KBGI).

“Farzah is a persistent friend. Either in the lecture process or as a Surya team. While representing the White Campus, he also showed that tenacity. Work hard to innovate to win the competition,” he explained.

Fathur, his nickname, saw that Farzah did have a hobby of playing football. But as far as he knew, his friend had never seen live football in the stadium. Arema's match against Persebaya in early October was the first opportunity to watch it live.

"I was shocked when I was told that Farzah had died. Moreover, after sunset, his condition improved. But his condition worsened around half past eight at night, and he finally breathed his last. Fathur is a polite person. Not infrequently, when talking to his friends using the language of manners. Even his duties at LSO Surya are always well done," said the head of the LSO Surya UMM team.

The UMM Campus, especially the academic community majoring in Civil Engineering at the White Campus, also felt a loss. Farzah also helped as a laboratory assistant for the Muhammadiyah Applied Technology Center (MATC). He is known as a friendly assistant and does not hesitate to help his juniors to understand various materials.

"The deceased was an academically active student and in LSO Surya activities. He represented UMM several times and this year also became a team committee that supported the finalists to the finals of the KBGI and this year's Indonesian Bridge Competition. But God's will say otherwise and certainly cannot be changed. Hopefully, the deeds of worship of the deceased will be accepted and his mistakes forgiven," explained the secretary of the UMM Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Ir. Moh. Abduh, ST., MT., IPM., ACPE., ASEAN Eng. (wil)
