For children, Ramadan is identical to a Ramadan Activity Book. This book is used to report on prayers, tarawih, etc. Dr. Erna Yayuk, S.Pd., M.Pd, a lecturer in the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), explained that the Ramadan Activity Book is very important in building children's character. It becomes a self-assessment to monitor the development of religious activities during Ramadan.

"Through this book, teachers, parents, or guardians can guide their children in participating in Ramadan activities. It can also improve children's spiritual intelligence and strengthen their sense of faith and piety toward Allah SWT. Fasting as one of the pillars of Islam will form resilient, patient, sincere, and solidarity characters," she said.

In addition, Erna also said that Ramadan activity books can improve character values such as honesty, responsibility, tolerance, and empathy. Children will also gain religious knowledge that improves intellectual intelligence through studies during this holy month.

"The Ramadan Activity Book is an effective tool because it contains the fasting schedule, five daily prayers, and tarawih, which need to be marked with a check mark if they have been done. There is also a lecture column after tarawih prayers that needs to be filled in with the theme of the lecture, the name of the speaker, and a signature. Usually, the Ramadan Activity Book also contains reports on the implementation of mandatory and supererogatory prayers during the month of Ramadan," she said.

There is also Tadarus Al-Quran (reciting Al-Quran) by writing the name of the letter, verse, and the supervisor's signature. By filling out the Ramadan Activity Book properly, children will be used to doing worship and religious activities in an organized and orderly manner.

Moreover, the Ramadan activity book also contains tasks that help children understand and develop self-discipline and self-control. These tasks include fasting to understand patience, making a daily schedule to respect time, and following rules in the family or school to respect authority.

"The Ramadan Activity Book helps improve the character of honesty and responsibility in children. It teaches them to practice values such as good behavior and habituation from an early age. Furthermore, this book also encourages a caring attitude through fasting, teaches tolerance towards others who are fasting, and increases empathy and sympathy towards others. Through the experience of enduring thirst and hunger, children learn to appreciate the blessings they have and become more concerned about others who are less fortunate, strengthening their social and humanitarian attitudes," said Erna.

Finally, Erna invites the parents to actively assist their children during Ramadan, including filling in their children's Ramadan Activity Book. This book is an important medium for educating individuals about Ramadan-related customs and practices as well as Islamic values of character. The book also highlights children's ability to adapt to Ramadan, their role in social change and cultural innovation, and the importance of promoting social awareness.

"With the assistance of parents, Ramadan books play an important role in increasing knowledge, understanding, and promoting social and economic justice in the community of Muslim children," she concluded. (bal/wil/put)
