True happiness is when you can share that happiness with others. That is what drove Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) and Rayz Hotel UMM to hold a cheerful Ramadan-Iftar event on March 19th on Ahmad Yani Street, Blimbing, Malang. Collaborating with street artists, UMM entertained motorcyclists and car drivers, distributing takjil (small snacks to break the fast) and food. Interestingly, there was a live cooking demonstration of four-star cuisine during the Iftar event, with the participation of international students.

This activity aligns with what UMM Rector Prof. Dr. Nazaruddin Malik, M.Si., had previously conveyed. Nazar explained that this activity is UMM's way of spreading benefits. According to him, in observing Ramadan, every individual should be able to enter public spaces to realize social and environmental righteousness.

Additionally, one of the street musicians, Muhammad Aris Maulana, expressed his delight in collaborating with UMM. Not only did they provide musical entertainment for commuters and residents, but they also provided a four-star hotel menu from Rayz Hotel UMM. Thus, the residents who attended felt happy thanks to the music played along with the satisfying meals for Iftar.

Furthermore, the presence of foreign students from the White Campus who helped enliven the Iftar event was notable. These students came from Vietnam, Africa, Iran, and other countries. It was noted that more than a hundred residents and commuters stopped by to enjoy the four-star hotel dishes.

Regarding the food and beverages served, Hery Damayanti, the Senior Sales Manager of Rayz Hotel UMM, explained some of the delicious specialties provided for free during the event. These included grilled chicken, fruits, vegetables, refreshing drinks, and more. While enjoying the food, residents were also entertained by the performances of street musicians. "Often, motorcyclists stop by due to the performances of street musicians," he said.

One of the foreign students, Nguyễn Hoài Ngân, affectionately known as Ningsih, expressed her happiness at participating in this unique event. Especially since, in her country, she had never experienced the culture of breaking fast together. "I feel extremely happy because this is also the first time I have participated in breaking the fast with many residents. When they feel happy, I honestly also feel their happiness," she said.

On the other hand, Lastri, one of the residents, expressed her interest. She stated that activities like this are very beneficial, especially for those who are less fortunate and do not have much money to buy Iftar meals. The food provided by Rayz Hotel UMM was delicious because it truly presented four-star hotel cuisine.

"I really hope that this UMM event will be successful in the future and run smoothly. I pray that the UMM team will always be healthy and able to organize such events again in the future," she hoped. (tri/wil/fajr)
