The development of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) program should not stop and be complacent. Excellent programs must continue to be raised and carefully prepared, one of which is the Center of Excellence (CoE), which has been in the works for a long time. This was conveyed by the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Center of Excellence (CoE) event on Thursday (14/4) offline.
Fauzan explained that the CoE that was already owned was trying to anticipate the transfer of student interest from different majors. According to him, this program must be flexible, and the courage to innovate must be increased. If it is only based on textbooks, the center of excellence program and UMM will only run in place without any significant development.
Furthermore, he added that there would be the development of a bookstore owned by UMM shortly. The existence of these new things should not be seen partially but needs to be seen with intellectual development. In addition, in the next few months, one of the White Campus partners, the Singosari Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Malang Regency, will be used as a digital-based Human Resources (HR) development center. So, the development of human resources and CoE of UMM must have great explosive power with international class partners.

"There are times when people can develop what they are interested in. For example, a machinist who can speak Arabic through the Center of Excellence program. This will be an interesting and strategic thing. Of course, in carrying out this CoE, there must be commitment and real and accelerated movements," he added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ir. Damat, M.P., the head of the UMM CoE office, explained that this program establishes and improves the quality of university education and student competencies. Thus, the quality assurance process can implement the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM). The CoE office is tasked with providing independent campus services at UMM, one of which is to ensure the graduation of four-year regular students with qualified competencies.

In addition, the CoE of each study program is also a program in implementing UMM PASTI. In implementing CoE, cooperation with the Industrial World Business World (DUDI) is undoubtedly needed. That way, students and Center of Excellence class participants can firsthand experience work practices and internships at the company. Understand Not only the theory but also master the technique.
"The various CoEs that we have are certainly expected to become a research and technology center. Moreover, that will build a research center and CoE in Karangploso later," he said. (apg/haq/wil)
