The world today is in an uncertain situation. Not finished handling the Covid-19 pandemic, a war broke out between Russia and Ukraine. After that, a new type of monkeypox disease emerged, declared dangerous by the World Health Organization (WHO). This was conveyed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) for India, Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi, during a scientific oration for graduates of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). This graduation ceremony was held on Tuesday (27/09) at UMM Dome.

Furthermore, Ina explained that during this challenging global situation, Indonesia emerged as one part of the worldwide handling solution. This can be seen in Indonesia's economic growth, which increased by more than 5%. This is also accompanied by a surplus and export growth of 30%. "During a virtual learning scheme implemented at all levels of education during the Covid-19 pandemic, Indonesia was able to enter as a country with a high index in the human development category according to a United Nations (UN) survey," she explained.

Regarding the cooperative relationship between Indonesia and India, Ina explained that the bilateral relations between the two countries are going well. Indonesia and India work hand in hand in handling Covid-19 in both countries. From the economic side, trade between the two countries has reached 21 billion US dollars, with a surplus of 5.6 billion US dollars for Indonesia.

"In the field of education, India has multiplied. Graduates of Indian universities can easily work in multinational companies. Despite having a high potential in education, Indonesian people are not very interested in studying in India. It is recorded that only 184 Indonesian students are studying in India. Therefore, I welcome one of UMM's collaborations with the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) India. Hopefully, this will be a big effort for UMM's progress in the future," said Ina.

In line with Ina, Director of BCA Pusat John Kosasih said that the world is in an era of uncertainty, and its development is very dynamic. Many countries are experiencing socio-economic problems. Most recently, the war between Russia and Ukraine brought about supply disruption in food, wheat, and gas fields.

"In addition to these three areas, the availability of chips is also disrupted. In this digital era, chips are needed for various technologies, including in the banking industry. With the reduction in supply, there is a need for rapid adaptation in various existing fields," he continued.

John, his nickname, said that the younger generation must prepare their provisions long ago to overcome problems in this dynamic era. UMM graduates are needed to build a greater nation. "Therefore, alumni are expected to hone their sense of purpose. In addition, in facing the wider world, I hope that UMM graduates can develop four qualities: hard work, smart work, sincere work, and thorough work," said John.

On the same occasion, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, explained that in the coming year, India will become a strong country in the economic field and can even compete with China. The development of cooperation between UMM and India will strengthen the dedication that UMM has built as a campus with future orientation.

"Looking at the dynamics of the world, we must not remain silent. UMM must take strategic steps to improve Human Resources (HR). Even though you have graduated, you still have a long way to go. Don't stop learning and make your learning at UMM a provision in the future," he concluded. (apg/shi/wil)
