To achieve the UMM PASTI program by ensuring that they graduate on time in 3.5-4 years and independently, the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) has implemented concrete programs. One of the programs that have been promoted is the Center of Excellence (CoE) since 2017. The Animal Husbandry Study Program pioneered this CoE program through the CoE Professional Class of Poultry. Until now, there have been three generations that have been produced with competent competencies and skills in the poultry sector, especially laying hens.

Poultry CoE Coordinator Dr. Ir. Abdul Malik, MP., explained that this Professional Poultry Class has been running for a long time. Even before the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) launched the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program. "So far, there have been three batches, each batch consisting of 40 students. Especially for the 3rd batch, as many as 40 students managed to graduate on time simultaneously, which is 3.5-4 years. In total, 120 students are participating in the Poultry Professional Class who have graduated and have skills following the qualification needs of the Business and Industrial World (DUDI)," said Abdul Malik.

Poultry school students will attend classes with practitioner lecturers from DUDI for six months. An internship then followed them for six months at prestigious companies. They are also free of thesis because, at the end of the training, there will be a competency test process that can be used as a final project.

"Until now, several companies have cooperated in developing poultry schools, namely PT. Jatinom Indah Agri, Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, Sanbe, Mensana, SKM, Big Dutchman, and others. I can guarantee that those who graduate from poultry school already have qualified competence. The waiting period from graduation to getting a job will also be shorter and can be absorbed by the world of work. They can enter the company or even build their own business," added Malik.

After one semester of taking classes directly from DUDI, the participants also had the opportunity to go now to the field for an internship for six months. In this process, they will be given responsibility for managing 30,000 to 50,000 chickens and 10-20 coop staff. The participants will address the cage from preparation to harvest so that they can gain complete knowledge.

"If the regular internship is only for a short time and the knowledge is also half-assed. In contrast to this CoE internship which is comprehensive. That can convert the activities during this class into student courses. Twenty credits for in-class materials and 20 credits for a six-month internship at the company. So indeed, this CoE does not interfere with the student's lecture process. Instead, it helps them to graduate faster," he said.

Interestingly, at the end of the program, the participants will get many benefits. They were starting from a free thesis to a DUDI certificate that will facilitate their careers in the future. To get both, participants are required to pass a competency test which consists of a thesis test for one hour and a competency test for two hours.

"The testers are also presented directly from company representatives, so they are rigorously tested. The participants can also free thesis and accelerate graduation. That way, which can achieve the UMM PASTI program. Namely, students must graduate on time for 3.5-4 years, "said Malik.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., explained the UMM PASTI program. The program, which has been promoted since 2017, seeks to ensure students' timely graduation and ensure their independence. They can achieve these two objectives through concrete activities such as CoE and other workshops.

"Hopefully, these CoE breakthroughs and innovations can ensure student graduation. Even with a variety of provisions so that they can become independent graduates. Supported by hundreds of collaborations with DUDI, I believe it can provide skill acceleration for students as well as excellent opportunities in the absorption of alumni in existing companies, "said Fauzan ending.
