Everyone has potential that will become an advantage if appropriately trained. This was also done by Ahmad Fajrul Alim, a student of the Pharmacy Study Program, Faculty of Health (FIKES) University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). He successfully defeated dozens of participants and won 2nd place in the Bhayangkara Cup, which was held in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, in early July.

Fajrul, his nickname, said that this victory continued his streak of achievements in badminton while studying at UMM. Previously, he successfully won 2nd place in Men's Doubles at the Regional Student Sports Week (POMDA) of East Java 2019. In his preparation, he had indeed practiced three times a week. Then he increased the intensity so every day.

"My friends and I practice regularly. But two weeks before the race, the coach gave better direction both physically and technically," he said.

Meanwhile, Fajrul has been interested in badminton since he was in Junior High School (SMP). From junior high school to college, he continued to practice and achieved many achievements from regional to national levels. This continues at the time of entering the lecture.

This member of the UMM Badminton Student Activity Unit (UKM) again explained that there were several obstacles in each tournament. He even still often nervous and not calm before the match. However, once on the pitch, the tension slowly dissipated and turned into a more focused one.

"Nervous has been my disease for a long time. Even not only in badminton but in many activities. But as time goes by, I can start to focus and win games more often," he said.

The student from Banjarmasin hopes that his skills and physique can continue to develop. Understanding of strategy can also be mastered so that it can be used to defeat his opponents.

"I am certainly still hungry to learn many aspects about badminton. Needs a lot of improvement and progress. In addition, I certainly have to be able to balance academic and non-academic. For other friends, keep digging and sharpen your potential. I am sure that achievements will also follow," he concluded. (apg/haq/wil)
