Contribute to Education, this UMM Alumni is Elected as President of IELTA and Invited to Korea

In the 5.0 era as it is today, many conveniences are obtained by humans, especially related to technology. Urifah, one of the education observers who, is also an alumnus of English Education at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). Moreover, the pandemic has limited human movement and interaction in the last two years, including in education.

Even so, Urifah makes good use of technological sophistication to carry out collaborative activities. Not only at the national level but also internationally. He also participates in various online educational activities organized by multiple countries. Her actions and contributions have made Urifah known to many people from different countries. Especially from teachers, experts, and education observers.

She became a speaker at collaboration events between schools in India, Colombia, Taiwan, Romania, the Philippines, and others. His studies are also interesting: education, SDGs, culture, and the environment. Thanks to her excellent abilities, Urifah was successfully elected as President of the International English Language Teachers Association (IELTA). Their members are English teachers from Indonesia, South Korea, Nepal, Bangladesh, Argentina, Egypt, Malaysia, and many other countries.

Recently, this woman from Malang was invited to a collaboration agenda held in South Korea. Precisely at the International Conference on Education in Sejong on 20-24 October 2022. There were 60 representatives of teachers and education practitioners who were also present at the event. They held discussions, introductory sessions, materials from the South Korean ministry of education, and several others.

Urifah also had the opportunity to visit and teach at Dajeong School. The principal even accompanied her to provide materials and educate the students there. "Of course, this is a rare opportunity for me to interact directly with the students and teachers here. Especially before we met more often through online platforms. Here, the education is very well organized and has an innovative, simple, and advanced curriculum that gives joy. Hopefully, this can provide new insights for education in Indonesia," she said.

Previously, urifah was also invited to several similar agendas in other countries. One of them is in India, which provides the experience of teaching and interacting with the people there. He hopes that what he got in India and South Korea can be shared with other teachers to advance Indonesian education. (cdr/wil)
