A group of new students stared in awe at the sky above the helipad of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). You can see a Cessna plane belonging to the UMM Blue Flying Club and four paramotor pilots passing UMM flags to open the 2022 New Student Study Introduction (Pesmaba). The activity, which 7500 new students attended, was held on Monday (12/09).
Not only air shows but the opening of Pesmaba 2022 was also filled with flashmobs and flashlight mobs. A total of 11 flashmob formations were carried out by new students, starting from the university logo to congratulating the 48th congress in four languages: Mandarin, English, Javanese, and Indonesian.

In his remarks, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, MAP., said that 2045 was a golden moment for Indonesia. That's where Indonesia's peak in productivity and Human Resources (HR) is. However, if this opportunity is not used to its full potential, then the golden era of Indonesia will only be wishful thinking. "The golden Indonesian moment is in your hands. Therefore, new students must equip themselves seriously so this opportunity is not missed," said the minister born in Madiun.
To achieve this target, Muhadjir, as he is familiarly called, explained that there are five skills that new students must hone. These skills include critical thinking, communication, creative innovation, collaboration, and confidence. With these five abilities, it is hoped that the younger generation can become superior human beings, both at the national and international levels. "I also hope that new students have a life guide called ISOBAR. This manual is an acronym for worship, socialization, organization, study, and recreation. If you have prepared everything early on, I am sure you will become excellent leaders in the future," said Muhadjir.
On the other hand, UMM Chancellor Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., explained that UMM White Campus has a program called UMM Pasti. This program is implemented to encourage students to graduate on time. In addition, UMM Pasti is also designed to provide independence to UMM graduates through one of its programs, namely the Center of Excellence (CoE) based on Study Programs (Prodi).
"This CoE is a picture of the future. This program also made UMM a Center for Future of Work (CFW). Through this breakthrough, students can develop their potential and answer future challenges related to HR. Let's advance our determination to become capable and superior students so we can realize a golden Indonesia 2045 later," said the Kediri-born Chancellor.
Regarding the implementation of Pesmaba, a new student, Zainal Firdaus Eriza from the Animal Husbandry Study Program, said he was pleased with this agenda. Moreover, there were many innovations that UMM carried out in its opening. He was also amazed by the flashlight mob, the first time he had seen and done it.
"I didn't expect a coordinating minister for PMK to sing with the students at the opening of Pesmaba. It was beyond my expectations. Even though I'm tired, I'm very entertained and enjoy this year's Pesmaba UMM," concluded the student from Jakarta. (cdr/syi/wil)
