Growing up in a farming family, Wahid Muhammad Shodiq was familiar with various farming systems from an early age. This best graduate of the Strata Two (S2) program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) started to solidify his career in agriculture since he learned about the reasonably high price difference between harvest prices and market prices.

Although his family earns a living as farmers, they cannot do post-harvest management properly. It affects the sales of agricultural products that have been planted. Therefore, after high school (SMA), he was determined to explore the field of Agribusiness.

"In the field, sales of agricultural products must go through several hands so that prices soar. Therefore, education about post-harvest management is essential. In a small scope, maybe I can educate my family first, then slowly begin to move to an enormous size, "explained the alumnus born in Bojonegoro.

With the knowledge he gained, Wahid was increasingly motivated to study Agribusiness. This only child said that it was not the first time he had won the best graduate. Previously, while looking for a bachelor's degree (S1) at UMM, he was also the best graduate at the Faculty of Agriculture- Livestock Wahid said that his master's thesis continued his undergraduate research.

"At the undergraduate level, I discuss environmentally friendly behavior in general. However, in this master's degree, I discuss environmentally-friendly behavior focusing on fast food restaurants. As we know, the use of products that are not environmentally friendly will eventually lead to the pollution of fertile soil. However, there has been no definite standard regarding environmentally friendly packaging until now. Therefore, there is a need for regulation so that fast food brands don't make claims," said Wahid.

According to him, the government needs to make standard measurements related to environmentally friendly products, likewise with brands that are not supposed to claim origin but actually make products that are pro for the good of the environment. He also appealed to the community to participate in creating a good atmosphere. "Behaviors such as littering can affect the fertility of the surrounding soil. So there is a need for broad education about this," he said.

The award for the best graduates is a gift for their parents who have worked hard to send them to master's degrees. This achievement is also the best appreciation of the various efforts that have been fought for so far. "Hopefully, I can learn more things and share the knowledge I have gained with the wider community. I will also continue to pursue my dream, which is to open an agricultural shop that is pro-farmer in the area of origin," he concluded. (cdr/syi/wil)
