University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held the first batch of Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) to recruit new students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and Pharmacy. The selection of new students, held on campus three, was enthusiastically attended by prospective new students from the White Campus. The implementation will start from March 31 to April 2.

The Head of UPT New Student Admission (PMB) UMM, Nurudin, explained that the participants in the selection process came from all regions in Indonesia. A total of 20 rooms were prepared for the implementation of the exam. The White Campus also enforces strict health protocols given the unfinished Covid-19 pandemic.

"To maintain health protocols, we limit the number of participants in each room. We also repeatedly checked the temperature from the main door until we entered the UTBK room. In addition to checking the temperature, we also provide hand sanitizer and masks to prospective students," said the lecturer in the Communication Science department.

Furthermore, Nurudin said that the strict restriction process did not only apply in the health sector but also to exam safety. There are several things that the White Campus does in anticipating the existence of jockeys and other frauds. First, the committee conducted a thorough examination using a metal detector in this exam.

"This inspection is useful for capturing mini-sized electronic devices that participants may bring in addition, who will randomly give exam questions to participants. This is done so that the participants cannot cooperate. Finally, we also ask for help from the authorities, in this case, the police, to prevent unwanted incidents," said Nurudin.

Finally, Nurudin hopes that the screening process for new students can run smoothly. That way, it can give birth to qualified students in medicine and pharmacy. "We certainly want the selected new students to be superior seeds that have been rigorously screened. We also hope that they will be able to go through the lecture process well and apply to the UMM PASTI program in the future," concluded Nurudin.

On the other hand, one of the participants, Zara Nisa, said that the exam she had just taken continued to implement health protocols. Temperature checks, hand sanitizer, and inspections using a metal detector are carried out repeatedly. "The UTBK test at UMM runs very strictly. Honestly, I'm nervous about the results that will come out later. I feel the questions given earlier are quite difficult. Even so, I hope that I can get maximum results and become a part of the big family of UMM," she said. (apg/syi/wil)
