Moderate Islam and progressive Islam have been the identity of the Muhammadiyah organization since its inception. The founder of Muhammadiyah, KH Ahmad Dahlan, has implemented moderate Islam in various developments. Therefore, Tadarus Ramadhan, which was held by the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), discussed the Koran as the embodiment of a progressive Islamic society. The schedule was held offline at UMM Dome last Saturday (16/4).

One of the presenters, Dr. Hamim Ilyas, M.A, explained that one aspect of creating a moderate Islamic society was constructing a different school system at that time. Finally, the application of moderate Islam is increasing and growing. Furthermore, the community that Muhammadiyah wants to build is a society that is primary, just, prosperous, and blessed by Allah SWT.

The formation of a community according to these criteria is not without reason. Realizing a mainstream society means a society that is above average. With this community, it is hoped that Muhammadiyah residents will always be at the forefront of various virtues or what is commonly called fastabiqul khairat.

"Meanwhile, a just society will bring peace to each individual. For the formation of a prosperous society, not only in the economic field but also in education and health. Meanwhile, the concept of a society blessed by Allah is summarized in Surah Al-Fajr verses 27-30, whose translation reads O calm soul, return to your Lord with a heart that is pleased and pleased with Him. Then enter into the class of My servants, and enter into My heaven," said the man from Klaten.

Furthermore, Hamim, as he is familiarly known, said that progressive Islam is the proper representative of Islam rahmatan lil alamin. There are three characteristics of Islam, Islam rahmatan lil alamin, namely prosperous, peaceful or not in fear, and happy. Interestingly, these three things align with the society that Muhammadiyah wants to build.

"In developing its society, Muhammadiyah also relies on the Al-Baqarah Qur'an. There are several characteristics of a good Islamic society, one of which is a big soul. When a person has a big heart, the thoughts and steps he takes will also be great. Then the second characteristic is the existence of an egalitarian social system or equal rights and obligations. And the last one is the personality of the people who are always in front of goodness," said the deputy chairman of the PP Muhammadiya tarjih and tajdid assembly.

On the other hand, the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. Explained that this Ramadan study was carried out routinely every day for a whole month. This is done to increase the academic community's awareness regarding their rights and obligations towards Allah SWT. It also improves good relations with fellow human beings.

"Awareness is in the very abstract territory. However, if the awareness has been built, then the products of faith and muamalah will also appear, which are in the line of Allah SWT. Therefore, we as Muhammadiyah members must not stop updating each other's awareness," he concluded. (apg/shi/wil)
