University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) provides its graduates with two steps to success. This was conveyed by the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., in the graduation procession on Tuesday (28/6). The two moves are scientific competence and leadership competence which are always channeled through various activities.

"First, students are always equipped with science and technology to become useful people. Then the second step, namely UMM, is determined to improve the leadership competence of the younger generation with various existing activities. Now, you can use those two moves to become a reckoned human being," he said.

Fauzan hopes that all the knowledge, achievements, and experiences that have been obtained from the UMM White Campus can be realized in the real world. According to him, the community has been waiting for contributions from new scholars, especially in solving existing problems.

On the same occasion, Aprianto Prabudi, an alumnus of UMM, is now a senior talent acquisition head manager for DP Program PT. Berau Coal Energy (Sinar Mas Group). According to him, these graduates are fighters because they have faced various challenges while studying in college. Now, it's time to level up and become a fighter in the job competition.

There To become a great fighter in the work world, there are three factors: mindset, attitude, and competence. According to him, a professional perspective is also needed to enter the professional world, with the philosophy graduates must have to survive in their respective work environments. Then equipped with qualified competencies to provide the best and the latest innovations.

Aprianto, as he is familiarly called, thinks that the mindset will be reflected in behavior. He gave an example of the job interview process and is in the salary determination phase. How to answer fresh graduates will represent the mindset you have. Usually, they will respond as needed, even though salaries in the world of work are seen from market prices.

"The same thing happened to the second and third factors. Regarding competence, there are four things that you must master, starting from technical, administrative or IT competencies, communication and finally collaboration competence," he added.

He also briefly explained the importance of collaboration and teamwork, especially in the digitalization era. He hopes these new scholars can continue training and hone the three main factors. That way, their skills can grow and eventually become great fighters in the world of work.

On the other hand, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P., reminds us that the real challenges when graduating will be more and more. Thus, graduates should not remain silent and satisfied with the existing provisions but must change according to the needs of the times so that they can survive.

Furthermore, said Muhadjir, based on the data from 2020 to 2021, there are 146 million workforces. Seven million of them are not yet employed, so the competition for strategic positions will be even more difficult.

"However, because you were born from the womb of UMM, you must be able to be at the front to be at the forefront. Not only to work but also to be an entrepreneur and entrepreneur. Not only looking for but creating new jobs for the wider community. Moreover, you already have provisions for playing data. I pray you can become a successful person and don't forget your alma mater," he concluded. (apg/ros/wil)
