The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) students created a tumbler that contains a Madurese culture called the tumbler pacenan. Rudi, Windi Erica Sari, Tri Febriana, and Zulfiyah Diyana Putri claimed their creation not only protecting the environment but preserved the language and culture of Madura through their tumbler creations.

Rudi continued that this pacenan tumbler uses stainless steel material with a temperature resistance of approximately eight hours. Interestingly, this tumbler is equipped with a Light Emitting Diode (LED) to measure the temperature so that you can know the temperature of the water in it. Meanwhile, Madurese proverbs are printed using ultraviolet (UV) printing techniques and laser graphics.

“As part of the educational vision, this tumbler is also equipped with a barcode that is connected to the website. On this website, we provide various information about Madurese language and culture,” explains Rudi.
Following the Student Creativity Program in Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) plan, their idea has also received funding from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs with Universities, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

Rudi and his team hope it will reduce the use of single-use plastic. It can also preserve the Madurese language and provide education on the values of Madurese characters for the next generation. (shi/wil)
