Seeing social realities up close made Tinuk Dwi Cahyani, S.H., S.HI., M.Hum feel sad about the lack of public knowledge about the law of marriage. Departing from that, this lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) decided to write a book that discusses the law in marriage. This book was published on Tuesday (07/12) yesterday, through UMM Press.

Tinuk, his nickname, has started writing this book in 2018. The process takes quite a long time because you have to carry out research first. Apart from that, it also provides counseling and community empowerment. "I do this to have a deeper understanding of the existing social reality," said the lecturer who was born in Madiun.

Many of the stories he got during the research. Tinuk revealed that people do not understand the importance of registering the marriage with the state. Even though this is a form of the legality of a marriage. Marriage registration has a significant impact, especially for victims of cases of divorce and domestic violence (KDRT). They will find it difficult or even unable to obtain their rights such as an Iddah livelihood, a claim for living, and protection from domestic violence.

Another impact that is found if the community does not understand the law of marriage is the number of underage marriages and divorce cases that have skyrocketed, especially in Malang Regency. "Registering a wedding is very important because the state can protect individual rights through the law. Perpetrators can also get punishments that are appropriate and even heavier, "Tinuk continued.

"I certainly hope that the book I write can encourage people to be better understand the rules of law and laws that apply when something happens, especially in terms of the legality of marriage," he said.
