Another good news came from the Robot Dome Team of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). They were able to win 2nd place in the Indonesia 2022 Regional Robot Contest Region II, which was held on 11-13 June 2022 online. The proud team of UMM managed to win in the SAR Robot Contest (KRSRI) category organized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia.

It is Salman Al-Farisi Ramadhani, Aditya Septiawan Dwi Andika and Naufal Labib Althof who are the people behind the Dome robot. Aditya revealed that his team was still grateful even though they won 2nd place at the regional level. Especially with the relatively short preparation and sudden information.

"We have to make an extra effort in training and preparation so that the robot does not make errors during the race. In addition to hard work, prayers from both parents are also important to launch our journey," he added.

This year's competition gave a mission to extinguish the fire in the room and save the victims. Aditya said the advantage of the Dome robot lies in the design and strategy of the robot. The assembly process takes more than a month. Not to mention that they have to experience components that are hard to find.

"Perhaps the Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS) and the Ten November Institute of Technology (ITS) are quite fierce opponents in this year's KRI," said Aditya.

Adit said that after winning in the region, he and his team would later fight in the Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI). This event is an annual competition in robotics design and engineering for students. There are several stages that Adit and his team had to go through to be present and compete offline.

It starts with submitting a proposal then, followed by sending a video showing the development of the robot. Until finally arrived at the stage of displaying the robot via video conference. From there, it will produce a series of teams invited directly to the 2022 National KRI, which will be held in Surabaya.

He hoped the UMM Dome team could repeat last year's brilliant achievement by occupying first place in the KRSRI category. Besides that, they can also become a team with the best designs and strategies. "At the national level, we will be more mentally strong because the euphoria will certainly be different. The match is live; hopefully, we can win it like last year," he concluded. (apg/Zak/Wil)
