Good news came from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The White Campus strengthened its internationalization endeavors by achieving several study programs that successfully obtained international accreditation from the International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). The study programs entitled to get the blue stamp are Psychology Study Program, Management Study Program, and Communication Science Study Program.

FIBAA is an international accreditation agency based in Germany. It focuses on accrediting higher education institutions in business administration, economics, management, and law. Previously, FIBAA Officer, Frederike, said the three study programs had met the criteria after going through a long process. They started from the Self Evaluation Report (SER) proposal, document checking, to online field visitation by the assessor panel team.

There are three aspects assessed by FIBAA, namely content, form, and resources. The content aspect is related to the alignment of the study program curriculum with the national curriculum and the European Qualification Framework. A form aspect also focuses on implementing the OBE curriculum and resources related to facilities, lecturers, and education staff. All these are contained in 54 criteria the study program must meet. This FIBAA accreditation is valid for five years and can be extended.

UMM Vice Chancellor I, Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Si., appreciated the achievement of the FIBAA accreditation. He says UMM White Campus is already time to level up internationally. One way is getting recognition from various parties, both from institutional and personal aspects, moreover, looking at the history and achievements that have been achieved so far.

Previously, five UMM study programs had received international certification from the Asean University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). All study programs at the Faculty of Engineering have received international recognition from the Indonesia Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). This proves UMM's commitment to improving quality and achieving a higher level.

However, Syamsul emphasized that the university will continue encouraging all study programs to gain international recognition. For example, at this time, most study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry UMM are working on the accreditation process, specifically from an institution located in Germany, namely Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik (ASIIN).

"Both accreditation and international certification are important assets in internationalization efforts. Moreover, we also develop personal aspects such as lecturers who must also gain international recognition. Whether it's in terms of their academic networks, conferences, and research. They must be able to disseminate their thoughts and ideas into useful works," said Syamsul.

Furthermore, to strengthen its internationalization efforts, UMM also continues to increase opportunities for faculty exchange and student mobility programs. Thus, the academic community can experience college life in a foreign country and strengthen the internationalization steps of the White Campus. (put/wil)
