University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) students create dairy cow's milk into a roasted cow's milk snack product. In partnership with residents of Ngroto Pujon Village, this innovation was included in the Student Creativity Program for Community Service (PKM-PM) and received funding from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti).

One of the team members, Cynthia Angelina, said that Ngroto Pujon Village is a village that is famous for its dairy products. It is because of the majority of the population work as cattle breeders. Unfortunately, when the harvest comes, there is always leftover milk that is not sold. Even though they suffered losses, the community did not process the remaining milk into other products with economic value.

"To utilize the leftover milk, we created a new and unique snack, namely roasted cow's milk. In making it, we collaborated with women for Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK). This snack product can last for one week after processing," said the Social Welfare Study Program student.

In making it, he explained that the snack began with cooking the milk until it was half cooked. Then add the additional ingredients and stir until well mixed. If it has thickened, let the dough rest and store it until it can be shaped easily. "Finally, we just cut according to taste and bake it," said Angel.

Not only limited to the process of making roasted cow's milk snacks, within three months of PKM, Angel and the team also assisted residents in marketing these products. In addition, this PKM team also helps the village take care of licensing for Home Industry Food (PIRT). "With the management of this PIRT, it will increase the quality assurance and selling value of this snack product," said the only child.

Angel said that in the middle of the PKM period, the program experienced problems due to the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). Therefore, he and his team changed the system that was initially offline to online using Zoom. Angel was accompanied by four members in this program, namely Khairunnisa and Nanda Fatika Ningrum from the Social Welfare Study Program, Desy Tania Fitriani from the Food Technology Study Program, and Hima Ilda Imrotul Fauziyah from the Animal Husbandry Study Program.

"We hope that this PKM can help the community's economy. Not only that, but we also hope that this program can continue to be a sustainable activity and be able to make this snack a superior product for Ngroto Village, "he concluded. (shi/wil)
