Intelligence is not the only success factor for a person. Other things need to be understood and improved, two of which are high skills and branding awareness. With these two provisions, students are expected to face the challenges of changing times that are increasingly varied. Motivator Adri Suyanto conveyed this to new students in the Student Day event at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) last Saturday (8/1).
Adri said that maybe the university being studied is not the best university of our choice. But sometimes, what you want is not necessarily what you need. Therefore, God grants and chooses something required by every human being. Because not infrequently, many of the best campus alumni have difficulty getting a job and heading for the ladder of success.
He also emphasized the importance of high skills, namely intelligence and expertise. So, the activities provided by the campus should be utilized by students and possible—reading, understanding, and discussing as a means of achieving knowledge. Practice what is learned to gain competence and increase capacity through deliberate practice, feedback, and input.
“If we can go through these three stages, then I think you and you can be said to be experts in certain fields. So don’t kuliah pulang kuliah pulang saja (kupu-kupu) when you go to college. Be a student who kuliah rapat kuliah rapat (kura-kura). I'm grateful to be able to kuliah dakwah kuliah dakwah (kuda-kuda)," said the man from Kediri.

Even so, having high skills is not enough. There are other things that students need to do, namely efforts for branding awareness how they try to show off their skills and intelligence in society. So that other people can know what skills and strengths they have.
According to Adri, not infrequently, smart people cannot be absorbed because they cannot show their abilities. So, branding awareness is one of the keys to stepping on the ladder of success. "It's better to look smart than not to be smart, right? Likewise, with networking and friends. Always build good relations with friends everywhere because when you graduate, you will need that," he added,

Student Day also invited three students who won the UMM Award. Venska Natasha was successfully named as a talented student thanks her work in traditional dance and as an ambassador at various levels. Likewise, Fadillah Ahmad Nur succeeded in making UMM proud in the international arena during the Istanbul Youth Summit International Conference. In addition, he was also successful in winning the national pioneer youth award from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora). Thanks to his achievements, Fadillah was rewarded with the UMM Award in the international achievement category.
Zidni Ilman Nafian also received the UMM Award as the best student in the technology and digitalization category. He made various discoveries and inventions to get appreciation from many parties. One of them by the government passed it in the Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (PIMNAS). (cdr/wil)
