An interesting thing was seen in the sacrificial process at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Saturday (9/7). There is no use of plastic in distribution because the White Campus applies to UMM Green Qurban. Even with efforts to minimize processes that pollute the environment.

The chairman of the UMM Eid al-Kurban committee, M. Arif Zuhri, Lc. M.HI. said that his party deliberately tried to start green Qurban UMM. One of them is using "Besek" instead of plastic as a place for meat distribution.

"This concept wants you to start as a form of implementing environmental ethics. That way, we can still sacrifice as usual and not pollute the surrounding environment," he added.

Arif continued those four cows and six goats were sacrificed on campus III UMM. Meanwhile, on-campus II UMM had one cow and two goats. The existing meat is distributed to many parties. Starting from the White Campus employees and business units to the surrounding community in need.

Arif emphasized that his party had also given one live cow to the Malang City Women's Penitentiary. "Besides that, we also share by handing goats to the Male Prison. Don't forget to also go to areas in need in South Malang and around UMM," he said.

During the sacrifice process, Arif also invited students who received scholarships for the Tarjih Ulama Education Program (PPUT) and orphan scholarships. It is done so that the students get an exciting experience in distributing "Qurban" animals. So that later when they enter the community, they are not confused and are quick to implement it

Regarding the sacrificial animals, UMM ensured that the existing cows and goats were healthy from various diseases. It was emphasized by the companion of the UMM sacrificial animal health team, Mahmud, S.Pt. M.Pt. According to him, all the sacrificial animals of UMM have been carefully examined.

At the time of purchase, his party also brought a team for further inspection. There is also an animal health certificate (SKKH) which is one aspect of observing the condition of the sacrificial animal. Be it cows or goats.

“These cows and goats have been declared free of liver worms, anthrax, and even the Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD) virus. All of the innards, liver, and lungs are also clean and healthy when cut and viewed. So it is completely free from bacterial and parasitic elements,” said Ali. (cdr/wil)
