The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) is fully committed to generating the best and most superior human resources. Two of the measures are through the Center for Future Works (CFW) and the Center of Excellence (CoE) programs, said the Rector of UMM, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M. Pd. while giving welcoming remarks in the gathering event of parents and guardians of the students batch 2023 at the DOME of UMM on July 22nd, 2023.
Fauzan emphasizes that those programs are the steps of the White Campus UMM to welcome the demographical bonus by 2045. Excellent human resources can be generated if there are provided programs and facilities. Currently, UMM has run more than 54 CoE classes, and they vary.
Interestingly, students can prepare themselves to graduate faster from semester 2 through the thesis exemption path. They can take many mechanisms: research, community service, scientific article publication, and other works. This effort is also one of the manifestos derived from the slogan of UMM, UMM Pasti (Definitely UMM): Definitely graduate, work, and be independent.

“We never limit your children’s talents and interests. We provided various kinds of mechanisms for the equivalence of the final thesis. (So) later, your sons and daughters can graduate from UMM without writing an undergraduate thesis,” said the Rector.
Meanwhile, UMM has provided a range of business units and facilities that parents can visit when staying in Malang, such as Rayz Hotel, Sengkaling Recreation Park, and My Dormy Hostel, which offers a special discount. Besides, students can utilize the medical center and hospital of UMM as healthcare facilities. In total, more than 13 business units of UMM can be visited and used.
One of the prospective student’s guardians, Umi Kuslum, admitted that provided facilities drove her to send her child to UMM—especially since the White Campus has complete facilities and infrastructure: adequate laboratories, comfortable classrooms, and many more. Even when students get exhausted, they can relax by riding a duck boat in the UMM lake or visiting the Sengkaling Recreation Park owned by UMM.
“My hope for young people is quite short but useful. Never underestimate education. Maximize all existing opportunities,” concluded the guardian of the nursing student. (imh/faq/wil)
