Teachers are an essential factor in efforts to make Indonesia a gold in 2045. It was coupled with the beginning of the peak of the demographic boom that will occur in 2030. This was emphasized by the Chancellor of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., in the Academic Orientation of the Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG) last Wednesday (24/8).
Fauzan invites PPG participants to reflect on who will hold the leadership in 2030. The answer is students who are currently studying in elementary school. Thus, teachers are considered the spearhead to giving birth to future generations.
The PPG students studying at UMM totaled 661 students. It consists of 34 people in mathematics, 35 in Indonesian, 35 in PKN, 70 in English, and 487 in primary school teacher education. PPG participants also came from 106 different regencies and cities.
Furthermore, Fauzan also wants PPG participants to be able to project what will happen in the future. One of them is an all-digital environment, even with different communication patterns. So, there is no other way to upgrade yourself so that you can provide the latest knowledge and skills to students.
Regarding the demographic bonus, the original Chancellor of Kediri explained that the number of productive age will be very high compared to those who are not effective in 2045. Even the number of people in the formative period will reach 77.7 percent. If it can take advantage of it, it can include Indonesia in the ranks of countries with giant economic developments. On the other hand, if you can't maximize the demographic bonus, you will lose all dreams in vain.
"Once again, I emphasize that education and teachers have an important role in realizing a golden Indonesia 2045. So, PPG is not only for administration or finance. But what is more substantial is how teachers can properly educate the children who will become the next relay holders," he said.
The same thing was also emphasized by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UMM, Dr. Trisakti Handayani, M.M. According to him, PPG UMM participants must be serious about going through all educational processes. Moreover, as many as 1.4 million teachers still have to wait their turn to participate in PPG.
"I am sure, if you can persevere and be serious about going through this educational program, then the title of professional teacher will automatically be attached. Don't waste the good opportunity that lies before your eyes. Hopefully, my friends can graduate and become role models for students," he concluded. (apg/wil)
