UMM Energy Efficient Car, Ready to Go for National and International Competitions

University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) students never stop making the campus proud. This year, the UMM mechatronic team is ready to compete in three competitions at once, from national to international levels. The competitions that will be followed are Shell Eco-Marathon Asia Pacific 2022, Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE) 2022, and the National Unmanned Fast Boat Contest (KKCTBN) 2022. Before the competition, UMM officially released the departure of the mechatronic team on Wednesday (05/10) in front of the UMM Rectorate building.

In the release agenda, the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan M.Pd, really appreciates the works of UMM students who will compete. He also said that winning or losing is a necessity. What is more important than that is that the soul of a winner must not fade.

"UMM has many quality Human Resources (HR), and I am proud of the students' work. Although this was born from a Semi-Autonomous Institute (LSO), this work is already extraordinary. You have built a responsible, competitive, and confident character through these creations. This work is a good collaboration. It is also balanced with high skill and patience by the maker. Thank you for this monumental work," said Fauzan.

On the same occasion, the head of LSO Mechatronic UMM Drs. Mohammad Jufri, ST., MT., said the mechatronic team was ready to face the competition. It happened because the mechatronic team had various experiences and won the championship in the same round. In addition, the mechatronic team often conducts exercises to prepare for performance, identify weaknesses and shortcomings, and minimize obstacles faced during the competition.

"Alhamdulillah, we have been facilitated in the preparation stage ahead of the competition. We also appreciate the students who have worked hard for the past few weeks and even the last few months. Previously we have won several competitions, including first place in KMHE 2018, sixth place in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia Pacific 2019, and third place in KMHE virtual 2020. Although this is not the first competition we have participated in, we hope that what we have achieved this year can exceed our achievements. Achievements in the previous year," said Jufri.

Furthermore, Jufri explained that for the Shell Eco-Marathon in Mandalika, the mechatronic team would compete from 11 to 15 October 2022 in the electric urban vehicle category. In addition, for the Energy Efficient Car Contest (KMHE), which will be held at the National Veterans Development University (UPN) of East Java on 30 October 2022, UMM will compete in the proto-ethanol and proto-electric vehicle categories.

"The last competition we participated in was the National Unmanned Fast Boat Contest (KKCTBN). This competition is also held at UPN East Java on November 11-14, 2022. In this competition, UMM will participate in the category of complete engine remote control, electric remote control, and autonomous, "said Jufri.

On the other hand, the team leader who will go to Mandalika, Arista Dwi Setya Budi, said that in the past few months, his team has often upgraded vehicles from the vehicle's legs and the Vehicle Dynamics system or software control and control system on the vehicle. In the competition, Aris said ten students and two coaches would go to Mandalika.

"Essentially, at this time, we only have to do the finishing of the body because the readiness for the race is 90%. We hope to be able to reach the first position like the achievements that we made in 2018 ago," said Aris ending. (cdr/zak/syi)
