S.O.E. Minister Erick Thohir Inaugurates Rayz Hotel UMM

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir, B.A., M.B.A., inaugurated Rayz Hotel University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) on Saturday (16/1). Previously, Erick also gave material to new students at the UMM Dome Hall related to digital transformation. Also present were Deputy Regent of Malang Didik Gatot Subroto, S.H., M.H. accompanied by the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd, Vice-Rectors, and the Dairy Development Board (BPH) of UMM.

Erick assessed that Rayz Hotel, one of the business units and applied laboratories of UMM White Campus, is an excellent example of how a university can strive to be independent. It is not limited to the education sector but also other industries. Thus, university development does not only depend on government funds.

"So, UMM does not only provide services to students and their families but also the wider community. Universities should do things like this," said Erick.

Furthermore, he also encouraged the White Campus to enhance the role of alumni further. One of them is through the establishment of funding institutions. The alumni are encouraged to be active in the funding activities that have been built. Then, the funds obtained are expected to be a new type of business turnover in the future.

Erick added that his party was very open in establishing cooperation. He hoped that the excellent relationship with UMM could continue to be integrated. Mainly in terms of research and development (R&D). "Now we are not so focused on R&D because this aspect can be done through cooperation. Moreover, there have been various collaborations with universities for commercialization," said Erick.

Meanwhile, the Rector of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., said that Rayz Hotel was one of the business units that gave positive results. It has even become one of the best four-star hotel destinations in Malang.

"Of course, we hope that the inauguration of Rayz Hotel UMM by the SOE minister can improve the performance and quality of services provided to visitors. Likewise with the development of other businesses that will soon be opened," Fauzan concluded.

Erick, Fauzan, and Didik also visited several points at Rayz Hotel. See the available swimming pools to several villas in the hotel. In addition to providing luxurious rooms, Rayz, an applied laboratory of UMM, also offers attractive villa services for those who want them.
