Unlike the current era, the era of software 2.0 will be controlled by intelligent machines. So there needs to be a lifelong learning spirit of learning new things so that they are not conquered by the times. It was conveyed by the coordinating minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P. at the 103rd graduation of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) last Thursday (17/3). The Russian Ambassador attended the event with strict health protocols to Indonesia Lyudmila Georgievna Vorobieva.

Furthermore, Muhadjir said that many important sectors would be combined to improve operational production efficiency. Mainly in terms of technology. Currently, technology development is also being carried out by Indonesia, ranging from 5G networks to the Internet of Things (IoT) in business aspects and a series of others.

According to him, such insights are needed so that graduates can prepare themselves for the new era. According to him, graduates will experience will be very different from when they were in college. So there is no other choice for future successors but to say goodbye to many materials learned while studying.

"Lecturers only lead you to the gates of success. Furthermore, all will depend on your efforts and commitment. A diploma is not the end of everything. Still, it is the beginning of learning new things to be able to navigate the challenges of a complicated era. I want you and you to be a generation of winners, not a generation that is conquered and defeated by the times," he said.

On the same occasion, Lyudmila Georgievna Vorobieva explained how the good relations between Russia and Indonesia took place. As of 2020, the bilateral relationship between the two has reached the age of 70 years. Indonesia is also considered an essential partner in ASEAN and can interact dynamically.

Lyudmila also invited graduates to explore the excellent history between the two countries. Soekarno, who became the first president of Indonesia, was a good figure in the eyes of the Russian people. In total, Bung Karno visited Russia four times. He also gave a speech in front of more than 10,000 Russian people and conveyed the idea to build one of the most famous mosques, the Blue Mosque in St. Petersburg.

"Another interesting thing that we need to know is how famous the song Rayun Pulau Kelapa was. It was even translated into Russian. Various symbols of cooperation between the two countries can be found in Indonesia, such as Gelora Bung Karno, Joint Hospital, and several monuments. Hopefully, this good relationship can continue," he said.

An interesting thing was also conveyed by Alhajie Musa Kamara, the best graduate of the White Campus master's level. The man from West Africa said that he was the first person to get a bachelor's degree in his village. Now, he is also the first person to successfully obtain a master's degree in the town of his birth.

"Moreover, the master's degree that I got is an international degree from UMM. I remember the African saying that it takes a whole village to raise a child. And now, I am a child raised well by my village," he said.

Musa also feels lucky to be on a campus that values diversity. According to him, differences teach students to be good listeners. In addition, it can also encourage students to become good problem solvers.

Finally, the Chancellor of UMM, Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd. Reminding that graduates have social responsibilities than when they were students. Being an example in society, a mover towards goodness, and a capable problem solver for various problems. Graduates must also have self-confidence so that they dare to make breakthroughs.

"You were born from a university with a national and international reputation. Last week, UMM also appointed the sixth-best private university in ASEAN. So, this is a strategic capital for working in the community," he concluded. (cdr/wil)
