Good news comes from The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Marching Band team. They successfully won various achievements in eight categories of competition. Start from the IC Commander category to the IC Colour Senior category. The regional competition held in March is a part of the Kediri Marching Competition 2023.
Regarding the achievements, Nurma Khusnul Daryasari evaluates all the hard work and practice they always do. With their play style, they have their peculiarity. Start with every member's movement and interesting musical intonation that makes the sound beautiful.
"In playing a marching band, good cooperation is needed. We also do that in every show, " she said.
Amazingly, the White Campus marching band team only had a relatively short time to prepare before the competition, which was only about one month. They practice by the rendition of various songs. The choice of songs and music is also included in the assessment.

"Complicated music will certainly get more value if it is performed well. Likewise with the story in the performance as well as the Gitapati beat which determines the rhythm of all the instruments. If this evaluation aspect can be achieved, then the glory can be achieved, "explained the woman who is often called Nurma.
The theme of the UMM Marching Band team was quite interesting. For example, the color guard section presented the theme of identity and silhouette dimension, the snare team presented the exerevno theme, and the field commander presented the theme of the adventure of Tintin. Meanwhile, the brass team presented a classical and majorette theme with the final countdown.
After winning the competition, Nurma admitted that the UMM marching band would keep practicing. Apart from correcting some of the deficiencies, practice will be done due to their performance in December at the national competition in Jakarta later. They are also targeting various trophies and medals in this prestigious championship.

"Alhamdulillah, the campus really appreciates and supports our activities. Even though the marching band student activity unit was only established a few years ago, the support we received was extraordinary. Moreover, we are often to appear in national events. This is also one of the achievement and making the campus proud at various levels," she concluded.
As for the 2023 Kediri Marching Competition, the UMM team won eight trophies. The achievement they got was The winner for the senior field commander, the winner for the senior major, the winner for the senior snare drum, and the winner for the II senior field commander. Furthermore, they also won third place in senior snare drum, senior brass, and senior color guard. Not to forget, they also became the honorable mentions III for Color Guard Senior. (Put/Ri/Wil)
