The good news again came from the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). Six White Campus students successfully won the 2022 Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA) scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile, they will go to their respective campuses and destinations next semester.

The coordinator of the international mobility program for UMM International Relations Office (IRO) students, Very Kurnia Aditama, M.Pd. He explained that this scholarship allows students to experience studying abroad. The government will also finance them without having to take leave. It is because the agenda is part of implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

Very considers that IISMA 2022 is more competitive than last year. It can be seen from the difference in the number of registrants from 2000 students in 2021 to 7000 students this year. The requirements that must be met are also more detailed and rigid. As for this year, 43 UMM students registered, and six of them were accepted at the destination university.

"Students are accepted at Hanyang University, South Korea, the University of Liverpool, and the University of Szeged, Hungary. Some will go to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the University of Sussex, England," added the man born in Bojonegoro.

Regarding preparation, he and his team provided language training for two months before the student registered. Not only IELTS training but also TOEFL and even Duolingo. Hopefully, it will be caught up to the interview stage and eventually accepted at one of the university's destinations for each student.

One obstacle that Very and the team encountered was file preparation. Apart from having a lot to prepare, the process is also lengthy and requires precision. Moreover, many of the students are outside the city of Malang, so the process is quite time-consuming. Even so, all can be overcome and completed on time.

"We certainly hope that student enthusiasm can increase in next year's registration so that more and more people participate and increase the possibility of being accepted. In addition, the role of the campus is one of the essential things so that the potential and opportunities for students to experience study abroad are getting bigger. Hopefully, in the next IISMA, UMM can send more students to study, "he concluded. (cdr/wil)
