Most universities more often visit and study modern financial institutions such as banking. There are still non-bank financial institutions that should also be examined, especially cooperatives. This was conveyed by Yunan Syaifullah, M.Sc. as a Lecturer in the D-III Banking and Finance Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). This phenomenon prompted his party to visit the Setia Budi Wanita Cooperative (SBW) on Wednesday (15/6).

Interestingly, the students were invited to campaign for cooperatives through the tagline "I Cooperate." They can do this through Youtube vlogs, Tiktok, Instagram content, and other social media. The plan is that the students will upload it together with National Cooperative Day.

Yunan, as he is known, said that the visit was always in the form of providing education in various ways. Mainly to save the future of cooperatives. One is by campaigning for cooperatives to a broad audience of students.

"This company visit activity is also a series of academic activities from the industrial lead-based Financial Institution Management course. So, students are invited to visit realities and financial institutions directly," he added.

According to Yunan, this method allows students to see how financial institutions work. Both bank and non-bank. That way, they can also develop new, solutive ideas to be able to advance the community. "Therefore, a company visit is the right step in bridging the things learned in lectures and real practice," he explained.

The same thing was conveyed by Chairman I of SBW Malang, Reni Sukesiningsih. According to him, young people are a potential market for cooperatives. However, this market has not been fully worked on seriously. Cooperatives more often focus on and work on established age groups of people. Thus, the "I Cooperate" campaign was appreciated and welcomed.

During the visit, Reni said that the cooperative, which has more than 10 thousand members, has expanded its market digitally. Both through the marketplace and the SBW Mart application can be accessed and downloaded from the Playstore. This is an effort to keep pace with changing market changes.

"We still preserve the joint responsibility model in extracting funds and financing to improve the community's economy. We have been making this effort since 1954 and until now," said Reni. (apg/Will)
