The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) closed in 2021 with achievements. This time, Yulia Nastuti, a Pharmacy student from the Faculty of Health (FIKES) UMM, won the 1st National Pencak Silat Place in the Adult Empty Hand Single Art category Bandung Lautan Api Championship III. This event will be held offline at the Bandung Institute of Technology's GOR Jatinangor at the end of December 2021.

Yulia, her nickname, said that one month before the competition, she had made preparations by memorizing the movements of the moves. She also joined Tapak Suci (TS) UMM and practiced preparing mature performances to compete with other friends. The deepening of emotions significantly influences memorizing the moves, so it doesn't feel stiff.

"Emotions and movements must be in harmony so that there is no wrong movement. Moreover, this is an art competition that assesses the beauty and regularity of movement," she said.

She again said that in evaluating the art category competition, what was judged was not only how memorized and how good the movements were displayed. Mimik face and deepening of emotion in every move are essential points. According to him, if you remember it, you will make your movements stiff and don't understand each movement's meaning.

Yulia is not without problems. She was not allowed by her parents to go and compete in the competition in Bandung. The hectic coursework also makes her smart about managing her time. So that learning and training activities can be balanced and without obstacles.
