Who would have thought that her passion for painting since childhood had led this student to gain the National Record of Muri. Namely in the Most Face Painting category in one hour. Aprilisfiya Handayani, a student of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) Accounting Study Program, participated in breaking the MURI record held by the Yayasan Seni untuk Bangsaku (YSUB) in an event entitled "Indonesia Melukis 1000 Wajah".

Regarding the Record of MURI that was successfully earned, April, together with approximately 1,000 other Indonesian painters, painted a free face in one hour. The event, held at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, was attended by 150 offline painters and 850 others online due to limited capacity to comply with health protocols.

"I painted the face of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Sandiaga Uno. This painting is currently still in the curation stage to be given directly to Pak Sandiaga Uno himself," she said proudly.

April, her nickname, admits that since she was a child, she has dreamed of gaining a record. She managed to realize this dream along with other painters. Meanwhile, she was inspired by a television show titled Ripley's Believe it Or Not, which aired unique things and won various international record-breaking achievements.

"Since childhood, I have been motivated. Anyway, one day I should be able to gain a record in the arts. Even if the solution is shared with others like now,” said the student who also studies karate

Since elementary school, April has often participated in drawing competitions. Even in grade 9 of junior high school, she intended to study painting seriously by taking painting lessons from accomplished artist Sadikin Pard. He is a maestro artist with disabilities with a wealth of experience and an international reputation.

Because of her hard work and determination in painting, April achieves success after achievement. Her paintings entered the top 10 in a national event that the Governor of East Java attended. Her works also frequently participate in exhibitions. She was even named the youngest painter at the 2018 Indonesian Painting Market. She has also won international achievements by bringing home a Bronze Award in a painting competition held by the Jakarta Music Foundation.

Apart from being active in painting, April is starting an art gallery business called Prilis Gallery. It is hoped that this gallery can become a space for art appreciation for the public to care more about the works of local artists. His efforts also managed to get funding from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, and she won the Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Award (KMI) in November 2022. This proud achievement could not be separated from UMM's moral and material support. (tar/lib/wil)
