The Campus Intellectual Product Business Development Program (PPUPIK) of Animal Husbandry University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) develops herbal products to realize satisfactory livestock results. This product has been distributed to various Place-Use Technology Islamic Boarding School Communities (TTG), small and medium-scale farmers, and cooperatives.

According to Wahyu Widodo, one of the team members said, this herbal product has a much lower price than powder. Although it is more affordable, the quality of its production is also not inferior to others. Wahyu, his nickname, explained that this product was made because herbal medicines for livestock were costly due to the pandemic some time ago.

"Besides that, this herbal medicine is also very effective in treating livestock mouth and nail disease (FMD). Mainly in the healing process of dairy cows that seem successful. Siyuna's powdered and herbal products can be used for poultry and ruminants," he added.

On the other hand, Imbang Dwi Rahayu, a UMM lecturer, explained that herbal medicine contains natural antibacterials, namely active compounds in plants that can inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. In addition, it functions without damaging the cell membrane of pathogens and modifying the surface of pathogenic cells, affecting the hydrophobic nature and thereby reducing malignancy capacity. Even with efforts to stimulate the immune system, protect the intestinal mucosa, and increase the growth of beneficial bacteria.

The organic herbal medicine for livestock with the Siyuna brand has succeeded in providing new hope for healthy livestock, increasing productivity. Mainly in the form of eggs and meat and increased milk production. Interestingly, the PPUPIK program also encourages the formation of collaborations in both research and marketing in the fields of eggs, meat, and dairy cows.

Some areas introduced to Siyuna herbal products include Malang Raya, Blitar Regency, Pandaan, Pasuruan, and Probolinggo to Bojonegoro Region. In addition, healthy free-range chicken outlets have been established specifically for free-range chicken.

Liquid product innovation, a new and superior product, has been socialized since this October. It has even pioneered cooperation with the Dairy Cattle Development Kube (PSP), CV Maju Mapan, Kemiri Village, Jabung District, and others. It was done to widen the marketing reach of this herbal medicine as well as to spread the benefits it contains.

In particular, this program also involves students both for Animal Husbandry Practices (PUP) and Real Work Lectures (KKN), as well as students based on Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM). The team was chaired by Adi Sutanto and filled by Wahyu Widodo as a feed expert, Imbang Dwi Rahayu, Tri Sakti Handayani, and Aprilia Devi Anggraeni. (cdr/wil)
